For the debut of his new concert experience, Morris Hayes could have chosen any city. He chose Detroit.
The choice was intentional. Detroit played an important role in Prince’s musical journey, and Hayes saw the debut as an opportunity to give back to a city that had meant so much to Prince. It was also a city where Hayes had begun building a connection of his own.
What began as a masterclass in 2025 became something much more, bringing artists, educators and a community together around a musical legacy and what it means to pass one forward.

WHO IS CRESCENDO DETROIT
Located in Detroit's Dexter-Davison neighborhood, Crescendo Detroit is a nonprofit performing arts program providing exceptional music education, academic support, and mentorship to young people. Built on high standards and a belief in every student's potential, Crescendo helps students develop the confidence, discipline, and character to succeed in school, their careers, and life.

Crescendo Detroit is a free after-school and summer nonprofit program founded in 2013 by Damien Crutcher that builds character and life skills in youth ages 5 to 18 through intensive music, dance, and academic support.
